Meeting Jess

I'm meeting my cousin, Jessica for the very first time on Saturday. My aunty and uncle are coming down from Queensland for my gran's 60th with her. She's 1 year old. It's weird...not having met one of my cousins yet, considering that I see all 13 of my other cousins on a fairly regular basis.

Needless to say, I am very, very excited. =D

I got asked out by a cartoon drawing on Sunday night. He asked if I liked cheese. Unfortunately by the time I understood what he was getting at (Tip #1), he had been scribbled out.

"Walla!" Another spelling funny

Courtesy of Korby Parnell's blog...courtesy of digg.com...

Love this thread: MSN Messenger on the PSP.

ace11: "OMFG Finaly MSN Messenger on the PSP wipout pure haxed browser just point ur browser to http://mob.e-messenger.net/mobile/ and log in and walla your there!"

tigerbot: "You're spelling is really bad, I thought I'd let you know."

VeroZ: ""walla"? I think voila is more...appropriate."

aprocter: "tigerbot, "you're" grammar is really bad.
hint: it's your, not you're"

DullesGuy: "Indeed, use correct grammar -- this isn't IM."

Software2: "DullesGuy, use hyphens properly.

Let's keep complaining about each other's bad use of the English language, instead of talking about the PSP thing!!!!!11111one"

jamsea: "Ah the Internet, the one place where you can flame someone about their spelling, using improper grammar."

Internet Spelling Bee Ends Without A Winner

Unbelievable...

Buffalo Grove, IL - The recent Internet spelling bee ended without a winner. The event pits middle school students who are active on Internet message boards and chat rooms in a spelling competition.

Three hundred students entered, but none were able to make it past the first round.

"We started out with our regular list of words, but after about a hundred kids we could see we had to change," said event organizer Tom Spellings. "We then switched to common words like 'laugh' and 'stupid' but the kids still failed. Eventually, we limited ourselves to three-letter words but the kids still couldn't get one right."

The final student, Tyler Frenski, was asked to spell "the", but wrongly spelled it "t-e-h." Judges threw their hands in the air in disgust while a giggling Tyler exchanged high fives with his friends.

The results of the bee confirmed teachers' worst fear that the Internet is hurting children's reading and writing skills. "With all the texting and messaging these kids do, it's no wonder they can't spell," said Mrs. Blackburn a seventh grade English teacher. "Kids twenty years ago could spell complex words without a mistake. Today's youth can't even spell 'you' correctly."

One student, Ryan Wilson said he was going to start an online petition asking for dictionary manufacturers to include "preferred Internet spellings" for some words. "You should be able to spell 'lose' with as many Os and you want," he said.

Organizers said that next year they will add more students and limit words to one or two letters. "Hopefully, the laws of probability will be on our side and at least one kid will stumble on a proper spelling."

Overhearing the remarks one student said, "I was told there wouldn't be any math."

Free tix?

So I'm probably going to the Saints vs. Hawks game in a few weeks time at the 'G. I can probably get a couple of extra tickets too.
Yay for freebies!

Is anyone interested in coming along?
(NB: Provided I actually know you...)

Let me know...

I think I'm in love

With my new phone.
Its a Nokia 6288, and it's a 3 phone.
And it basically has anything and everything a phone could possibly need on it.

No doubt they'll get more complicated though. There probably already is better ones out there.

But compared to my old Sony Erricson (that how it's spelled?) K300i, it's a beast.

Check it.

How excitement!

Yes, I will do a Chicago post at some point. I can see you all on the edge of your seats just about bursting in anticipation, but I've decided I can't be stuffed at this point of time. Come the day of stuffing and I shall post one. I might even send it to be published in the Tafe's magazine 'Fly,' seeing as they're looking for reviews.
I think the whole grammar-spelling-correctly-don't-shorthand-because-it-makes-you-look-illiterate-and-well-like-an-outright-idiot deal being hammered into us every week is really starting to rub off on me. Look at this post. *Smiles proudly*

Haven't been asked into work for two weeks now. Not good. Could be leaving soon, so might have to look elsewhere...(*ponders on where she should look*)

Listening to Underoath at the moment on purevolume.com. Their old stuff's pretty good, but I don't know if I could safely say I like their newer songs/album, no matter how I might try. Too hardcore for me I think. Good thing I'm seeing them live then...
Hehe, nah mainly going to see Emery. These guys are the greatest. I remember the days when I'd say Emery would never ever work for me. I've never been more wrong in my life, as you can see on my last.fm page. Gig's on the 10th of June.
Cannot wait.

Can it get better?
Yes it can.
The day before that gig there's the Anberlin and Copeland gig, which I am also going to.
Woooooohooooo!!!!
Feeling slightly euphoric at the very idea.
(Imagine if Relient K were playing in Melbourne like the day before or something...I think I would just about drop dead from OD'ing on good news.)

Where was everybody last night by the way?
Church was virtually empty!
Maybe 30 people showed up at the very most?
Strange.

My party was about fortnight ago. Probably not the best idea holding it at my place since everyone barely fit, but it was a good night nonetheless. Incredibly blessed by the many friends that came, gifts received, and messages people wrote. Thank you to those people (and any other friends that couldn't/didn't come). I'm thrilled and I love that you're a part of my life. I say it a lot, and I'm bound to tell you a thousand times more, but it is most certainly meant every time.

:)

In random news:
Doing data entry/mail stuff you come across some crazy names. Names such as (and yes, these are names I have seriously come across. No jokes.):

Shieney Neuw

and

Hugh Jarse

I also came across the ultimate surname

Ready?

Szczepankowska

I don't think I could ever ever marry someone with such a long and almost-impossible-to-pronounce last name. No one would ever spell it right the first time, let alone be able to say it. People find Whitaker hard enough to spell as it is. Nup, if my man happens to have that surname, I'm keeping mine as is.

Otherwise I shall hyphenate the two and be Sarah Whitaker-Szczepankowska just to do everyone's heads in further.
Wow, imagine my signature...

"Then he ran into my knife...he ran into my knife 10 times!"

A couple of scenes from my ultimate favourite movie - Chicago. Directed by Rob Marshall who coincidently directs another of my favourite films, 'Memoirs of a Geisha.'
*Sigh*
This post shall be edited with reasons for my love of the movie later. Right now it is 1am. Time for switching off brain and sleeping.
For now, sit back and enjoy.

I like music...and umm...cloth...

If you haven't ever watched an episode of Teen Girl Squad...
Do.
It.
Now!
http://www.homestarrunner.com/tgsmenu.html

The most recent episode tops them all. Absolute gold. I think I will be pulling out quotes from this one until the day I die...
http://www.homestarrunner.com/tgs12.html

"'She likes cloth'...thats a good band name."

"Say baby...wanna go find a romantic access point with me?"
"Full bars!"

Save yourself the $ on ciggies and lose brain cells the easy way. Spend quality time on the whole flippin site. Yayyyy!

I have been asked recently which of the 4 TGS members I am most like.
After much deliberation...
Sadly,
I do believe I am most like Whats-her-face
Since most things I say are totally irrelevant to the conversations around me.
(I claim to be smarter, however...)

Oooh the irony of my blog name...
